Hello and welcome to our blog. I own and run Hakuba Powder Lodge with my wife Hiroko and my lovely daughter Hannah. I hope to show you why we love Hakuba so much.
So it has been long over due for an update. We have been very busy getting ready for our new twins to be born. On 21st we introduced Tyler and Maya to the world. Tyler was 2507grams and Maya was 2376grams. They are both small and are in incubators. The kids though are doing well and they should be coming home in early June.
Hello and welcome to our Hotel and family blog. Two years ago my wife Hiroko and I decided to change our lifestyle and move to Hakuba. With a baby girl Hannah on the way, we wanted to give her the lifestyle we had always dreamed about.
Both of us have been ski bums for years. Taking multiple seasons off to ski in either Canada or Japan. We always new skiing would dictate where we would live and Hakuba is the prefect choice.
From the moment we first stepped into our lodge we knew that we wanted to buy it. The view from our lodge is the best in Hakuba. You can see pretty much every mountain in Hakuba from our house.
Besides the mountains we love to Kayak and do so as much as we can. The local rivers run good in the spring and during the typhoon seasons. There is nothing better than skiing a nice backcountry line then getting in an hour or 2 of kayaking.
When the spring melt water dries up its time to start biking. The road and mountain biking in Hakuba is great. Everyday people are cutting new trails for Mountain biking and even I get out there to cut down some grass some days. You will find plenty of trail information on this site.
